Could anyone tell me what is involved in converting a 19 16v to a 2.0 using a F7R block and retaining the 1.8 head. Do they bolt straight together? Which headbolts do you use? Will it drop straight on to the 1.8 engine mounts? Was the F7R only used in the Megane Coupe? Is the performance gain worth it?

Would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

We really should have this question as a sticky...

Anyway quick answer... F7R in the williams Clio, megane coupe and sport spider

Williams will go straight in the 19

Megane one needs a bit of work

Heads are basically the same except for inlet valve sizes, cam profiles and on the megane head, port shape

Performance wise, its an extra 13 or so horses, but the torque spread is much better

Megane also has different shaped water galleries where it meets the block but its not important

Thanks, think I'll try pick up a cheap F7R block to rebuild instead of doing my own.

Williams blocks go for stupid money (around 1k uk£) so bare that in mind Wink

exactly!

megane lumps are cheaper. However to use a meg lump you have to fit the 1.8's/williams flywheel.

the head and so on fromt he megane lump can be sold on to re-coup some costs.

However don;t think you can sell the head etc for hundreds!

Hi,

You can't put a 1.8 head on a 2.0 engine because holes pistons boring are different.

Also, if you use original engine wire (1.Cool on a F7R engine, you must buy a spécial chip to run
Renault chip parts number :
77 11 126 036 ==> original F7P engine
77 11 126 569 ==> original F7R engine
77 11 126 704 ==> F7R engine with F7P wire.

If you really want to do this, i can send you a special chip Wink

Yes you can, It's been done loads of times. Its the same head casting for the F7P and the williams F7R and besides, theres only 0.7mm difference in bore diameter between the F7P and F7R anyway.

What's head gastet did you use ? humm it's too dangerous to do this !

Yes too long time... i was too busy with a girl... Cool but now my girlsfriend is my R9 16s !

My turbo project is in wait.... because i need more mony to finish it (about 2000euro), so i'm waiting Rolling Eyes

the head and headgaskets are exactly the same ont eh 1.8 16V and the williams F7R's. the heads different on the megf7r but uses the same headgasket.

Are u sure ?? Because i found 2 differents ref with different size....
F7P-700/704 ==> Width 168mm and Ø:83mm
F7R-700 ==> width 170mm and Ø:84mm

Edit ==> Head are not the same, that's sure !

the fire ring on the gaskets is 84mm....so go figure!! and they vary among cheaper gaskets.
