Got a v6 24v laguna on an R plate. Can drive for about a mile and then it goes beep beep, gearbox in safe mode? Wtf is this? I switch it off and i can redrive but for only a mile!

Any idea on what it could be?

Can fault codes be read for the autobox?

think of a normal auto box, then doubel the sensors, thats abotu right.

You'll need to get ti code read and see what the story is.

i assume it locks in 3rd?

ti = it, I type to quick for my own good thus get lots of mistakes! lol

anyway code read ren will do it, but have a look round for an auto box specialist. It may even just be a dicky valve ot a brake band needing adjusted.

Surprised its goes through 1st and 2nd though, normally they lock in 3rd.

well ive got a leggy here for parts i.e pedal box, gearshift assy and cables.

Just need a v6 box and shafts.

or is there more to it? i.e autobox ECU linked to engine ECU or something electrically gay like that.

yea, i agree. its gonna be an arse to find one.

The other thought i had was to put it into a kitcar, as i think its a cracking little engine. Would a renault UN1 transaxle fit it as it'll be off a 25 V6. Or does the newer v6 in the laguna have a different block to the old 25 V6/ Alpine engine.

its a different lump.

They use the good old UN1's but the newer lot use the pk's I'm sure. Espaces etc use them.

TBH its a shite engine, wouldn't waste my time with it.

well i was thinking 24v - lots of valve area , tidy up the head for better flow.

restricted exhaust - gains here.

triple downdraught's to suck through.

arent they about 200bhp as std.

on a good day yes.

Only thing going for it is the low output for the capacity so its not very stressed.
