It will have the N/A version of the C1J engine as found in the 5 GTT meaning it has a beastly 60bhp.
Not sure on the trim spec but not likely to be amazing, as after all they are cheap runabouts for doing the food shopping in! |

No R5 came with the Energy engine!
All the 1.4 R5's have the C1J as far as I know. |

that sounds like slapping a 16v engine into a non valver r19 ,not ideal though is it ???
nahh ,i dont want to make it too fast and uneconomical ,just want to make it a bit luxurious and good looking .
and might keep as an emergency car or sell it after a while but at least its something to work on just for the fun of it |

Having an emergancy car if a 19 16v is your main car is a sound plan. |

i have gone to see the thing today ,its a really ugly car with no toys at all .
the drivers seat need welding to the subframe ,passenger side wing has some proper damage , engine sounds well dodgy etc etc
i am not having it
thinking about a second car again on my way back ,i realised it has to be another renault 19 ,not necessarily a 16v but deffo a renault 19 |

change of plans ,
i want to buy this r5 now ,do it up , get it through the mot and keep it in my drive advertised for sale for a good price and if something happens to the chamade i can just have it insured and taxed in an hour or so ready to rock n roll
just wondering one thing at the moment , would the 15" speedlines rub anything on there ???? |

since when did any gtt come with 15 inch alloys?
Also how can you insure and tax a car in an hour? You need the cover note to get tax. |

15's will go on a non GTT with 195/45s and give no rubbing provided its not lowered.
Lowered...i had to grind away part of the rear arch lip but that was on a 7" wheel - I reckon if you're on a 6.5" wheel with a 185 tyre you'll be fine. |

17's will go on a 5 as well. theres even been plenty with 1's, you just need to grind back the arch lip but thats not the point here. |

Because wheels that size on a 5 just make it look odd IMO...i mean an 18 is almost half the hieght of the bodyshell...just wrong i think. |
