Just browsing through the member's list as you do and came across a familiar name from a while back during my hayday on Network54 Renault 19 forums - Steve Norfield!

I recall him being that message board's equivalent of Chris, but when I found Retro I kind of abandoned that board, I remember it just being full of retards asking the same old repetitive questions or being abusive for no reason.

So anyway - Steve, if you're out there and reading this - hello!

I thought Chris was the Network54 "Chris" - Back to his first post there in April 17th 2000!

Do you mean what was Paul Mitchells Network 54 forum? I think the link above is Brian who had a white Ph1 1.4 IIRC?

Pauls forum: http://www.network54.com/Forum/31029/ - I never went on that one much.

Those were the days eh!

Don't know mate, I do know Chris was on there for a while, then I lost the internet for a bit and then when I got it back again Chris had moved on to pastures new and this Steve fella was the one dishing out all the tech advice.

Paul Mitchell's message board was the one I was referring to.

I remember that Steve Norfield guy on the network54 forum. He left because it's such an archaic piece of crap forum which you dont log on to, so all the nob heads that frequent it started to impersonate him etc. and take the piss.

I can't for the life of me understand why people use that forum still, it's worse than RSC for clueless fools gobbing off or asking moronic questions for the billionth time.

I occasionally go on there to direct people here

Oh, and I have that forum to thank for my 'free' phase 1 so I shouldn't bitch too much I suppose Smile

I used to visit Brian's forum around 2001-2003. I knew of the existence of Paul's forum but rarely looked at it and never posted. Steve Groom also had a website and forum which was aimed more towards R19 1.4s than valvers. Both site and forum seem to be long gone!

when i first had my valver in 2000, paul's forum was the one i started using simply because it was the first that came up in google when searching for renault 19 16v...he had a proper website to go with it back then...

that then went down for "work" and never returned...shame.

but i met Ray on there and then he introduced me to RSC...which back then I thought was the dogs bollocks! Rolling Eyes

oh how things have changed!

We don't show up on search engines when you put in 'Renault 19 16v' Sad

How do we 'register' with search engines so people can actually find us rather than being directed here by word of mouth?

This is called "search marketing" - One of the ways Google ranks websites is according to the number of people that link to that site. So the more web pages containing the term "Renault 19 16v" that link here or even better the link text contains that term that the greater hits you would get.

The term "Renault 19 16v" needs to be on the homepage, in the title of the homepage and also in the meta tags (Chet doesn't have any I don't think).

Retro Renault needs to get into some link exchanges with some higher ranking websites.

I'd be happy to help develop the site away from being purly a forum, maybe the homepage could contain a list of 'Retro Renaults' with a little biography about each one? I'd be happy to contribute time / design. Once we have something we can be proud of we can start marketing it.
