happened twice in the last few days ,basicly when the car is hot and i am trying to park ,the revs drop down erraticaly and the engine dies .

i do however suspect ,the cone air filter might be the cause as i have been using it for over a year and never been cleaned .

so whats the proper way to clean them airfilters ????

in that case carb cleaner spray should do the same job ,will spray it with that .

do you actually see any dust/crap coming off the filter while doing this dan ?

yea the petrol comes out black when its sprayed properly, carb cleaner is the expensive alternative, and some dont need to be re oiled, like the K+N filters dont.

Its a K&N filter on mine and it needs to be oiled, tells you in the cleaning instruction's,

most Halfords places sell K&N's now so they should sell the cleaning kit for them, in the K&N kit you get the cleaner and the oil, basically everything your gonna need to clean it, and it should last you a while,

if its of the K&N variety i would personnaly oil it mate

there are two k+n's out there, but the one ive got on my 19 and my clio both say it doesnt need to be oiled, they state in the instructions if the filter is red, it doesnt need to be oiled, just use the cleaner.
