I have had this problem ever since I got the car in January. Sometimes 1st gear can be an arse to get.
Would this be clutch related or gearbox?
It's never had a new clutch and it's on 108k (1.4 RTI 1992 ph2)
Cheers all |

it may still be something to do with gear linkage ,i had to lift the thing to get in to 5th when i bought the chamade
gone under the car and examined the way gear linkage works while my neighbour in the car was telling me what gear it went in as i messed with the linkage .than figured out putting a washer in the linkage would make it work tidy and it did
also have you checked your box oil ? changing it works wonders |

Had a new gear box casing about 12 months ago, about 6 monhts ago mentioned it to the guy and he didn';t know why it did it, he said he put fully synth oil in it etc, i'm just putting it down to the cold, will change the oil when i get around to it |
