Anyone know what the maximum amount you can/should skim off a F7P head.
Normal head height is 169.45mm, just measured one of mine at 169.33mm (been skimmed before).
How much more could be taken off this before it's performance is compromised or it is deemed un-usable.
What are the consequences of skimming or over skimming a head??

Ta!

i had 0.3mm skimmed off one of mine and that was fine. In theory though you shouldnt skim the F7P head at all

skimming will increase the compression ratio slightly and alter the cam timing slightly.

...but not enough to affect performance and the increased CR should help with response, power and economy.

Reason i ask is i still have that head my mate put a ding in and am wondering if it is salvageable.

The ding is 0.23mm deep, so plus the skim it's already had, that would be almost 0.4mm removed from the face.

Do you think thats too much?
