On way in to work heaters weren't very hot, thinking bollocks matrix, air lock etc!!! looked at temp gauge it's rising sharply, couldn't pulll over, single track lane no paths! get to garage, gauge has hit almost max for no about 30 seconds. look under bonnet and the rad fan has sliced though the pipe leading into aux water pump! bollocks!!! luckily my cousins boyfriend worked at this garage, he gave me water pipe connector and i bodged it removing aux water pump from system [never worked due to relay anyway]
question is can we forsee any problems due to the thing over heating? there was still water in the block etc as once i disconnected certain pipes it really pissed out, was just quite warm. also anyone else bypassed their aux water pump witout problems?
cheers

its not lack of water in the block you need to worry about so much as the head. Might have warped/cracked etc. if it overheated that much.

If it still runs fine and doesn't leak, you've probably got away with it though. At least for the time being Razz

That hose down there so close to the fan is a pain, i usually find that one of the little arms on the fan carrier thing rubs against the hose on the corner where it turns 90 degrees and wears through it. I've sawn that arm off the fan carrier on both of mine.

yeah i know, i could still place my hand on the head [ i know silly way to test but had to know!] so don;t think it was to bad like i said it's was all within 3 minutes from temp shooting up and me pulling over , and it's running fine at the moment! just have to watch the water level over next few days. fingures crossed

did you put a joining piece in as in a hollow pipe or have you blocked the pipes off from each other? The right way is to totally block them off, result better heater, quicker warm up and a proper cooling system.

The aux water pump frankly is a poor design.

put in a joining pipe, so this can be blocked off totally? so a piece of solid aluminium in between pipes would work? i'll give it a go, cheers

actually the megane 2.0 16v doesn't have an aux pump, so obviously renault realised this was crap. cousins fella has a meagane 2.0 and he said his doesn't have one!
