Just got back from viewing a Clio 16v but it has a few problems.
Firstly: No receipt of cambelt change, what is an average price for a cambelt change inc parts, VAT etc?.
Secondly: When driving the car and lifting off the gas the car would rock you a bit. Also the gearstick was moving about. So say you change gear, car would rock, then lucht down, gear stick would move about by an inch or so. Surely that isn't normal :/
Lastly: The PAS seemed to whine, even if you moved the steering only a 1/4 of a turn. The lad said the belt needs tightening ?
Any ideas or more info needed?.
Cheers. |

Second: Rear engine mount has gone
Third: Check there's fluid in the bottle, if there is, tighten the belt. |

Why not buy a kit and do it yourself - cost £85.
It's not that bad a job to do either.
If you just want to do the belt its a 20 minute job. and about £15. |

its just the dog bone mount that will need doing. Dan can have that pleasure!
Belts on a clio are a nightmare.
19 is pretty straightforward, the clios a bugger.
You need to support the engine as you remove the engine mount, then you need a 7mm allen key (try finding one) to undo the centre bolt on the aux tensioner with no access.
The aux belt tensioner also normally loses its teeth so you can never tension it as normal.
Really bad crap setup. |
