3. 1 rear, one on the front by the pas pump, and one under the box, iirc the rear mount is the only one with bolts.

Sometimes the rear-mounts bolts snap. This may not be the case for you, but it might be something to look out for in the future.

lol thats what chris said was rong on mine lalalalalambda turned out that we put the engine in and ran it on the p1 ECU, we changed the p1 ECU to the p2 ECU and it just sitts there purring away at a grand, so check to see fif the ECU is compatable with the engine, i.e p1 ECU with p2 lump = kangaroo idling(pulsing up and dwn between 1500 n 700 rpm) as far as im concerned

I fail to see how the wrong ECU can do that unless its damaged.

nope it was fine on the old p1 lump chris but when we fitted the p2 lump in it just wouldnt settle just kept pulsing, after my m8 si got his arse in2 gear and brought over the p2 ECU we fitted that didnt map it or anything, actualy we were expecting a bang but no she fired up and never missed a idle or never pulsed scince then, however my bro tuk the p1 ECU of me and gave it 2 his m8 whos got a p1 hatch and it idles perfect so i dunno what the dillyhoe is there

i did think to swap the ecus but figured both my cars are phase 2s so they would be same.

found out that the engine mount on the drivers side is perishd.
all bolts are in there so the engine has sideways movement.
so looks like yet another job to do, despite the fact ive already sold the car;-(

how hards this to do? got another mounts sorted and have car jackd up;-)

had the ECU from the P1 been chipped at all ?

I have seen the pulsing effect on idle before and it is usually caused by a mismapped 'superchip' or a damaged instruction set chip on the pcb of the ECU.

and out of interest what year was the car that the P2 ECU came out of that you used ?

both cras were phase 2s i think one was a j reg other k not too sure both engines had std ecus only thing i can think of is engine that is now in car had a de cat on it and now i am running std exhaust with cat.

i think once warmd up the dodgy idle goes might put sum pety in it and take it for a little drive should cure it, will it damage anythign driving car with a worn drivers side engine mount as there is sideways play ie you can move engine from letf to right a bit?

how big a job is it replacing engine mount which has gone?

righty, 16mm single nut on the under side of the subframe and a pmetal plate that will fall off.

theres 2 16mm nuts on the bracket under the power steering pump.

You need a spanner in there at an awkward angle to loosen them.

The hardest bit is gettin gthe 2 top nuts undone and tightened up, pulling the rad out helps a tiny bit but not worth it.
