I seem to have quite a bit of play in the diff. When driving in any gear it knock when i let off the throttle to engine brake, also alot of play in the stick. I jacked up my car and had a play with the shafts and there seems to be a lot of play there. I can move them about 1 to 2 inch each way in the box. Took out a shaft to have a look if all the bearings were ok and they seem fine. Its doing my head in cuz it drives like a bag of shit like this lol. Rather than let off the throttle at lights and slow gently i have to press the clutch so it dont knacker the diff anymore. I checked all engine mounts too and the seem fine.
Anyway to fix this other than change the box/engine out again? Because i spoke to a guy who rebuilds renault boxes and he said the diffs dont go very often if at all these boxes. Dunno if he's talkin shit.
Soz for ythe long post lol, Cheers |

the diffs are good and rarely give faults, even the circlip issue isn't as rie as peopel make out.
If the diffs gone then a new box as it damages the casing.
Did you remove the drivers side shaft? if not do that and see if you can move the diff via that spindle. |

Cheers Chris. I removed the gearbox side driveshaft. Had to drain the box oil. Will have a look at the drivers side when the weathers better. |
