Hi.
On my Clio 16v the engine water temp display is extremly slow at moving. It takes about 10 minutes for it to actualy sit on the bottom bar (the one above the very very bottom one and I've only ever seen it at the normal running temp bar once.
Also my heaters seem to be cold, although when I boot it they go warm for a bit then cold, but will slowly heat up.
I'm thinking it could be the Thermostat, does that sound right?.
Also my PAS pump is very noisy. The resvouir has fluid in but it's not near the top although I don't know where the top is so to speak (MAX mark...where?)
When turning etc etc it makes a howling sort of sound, very annoying.
Also when deaccelerating and the engine revs get to 2500 the whole car starts to shake and there's a loud, very deep sound from under the car...wtf?
Any ideas? Cheers. |

My PAS pump is very noisy as well.
Heaters will get hotter when booting it because obviously the engine's getting hotter! Change the thermostat anyway, cost about a fiver which is nothing really for some peace of mind. |

the thermostat will be missing.
The max mark is on the side of the bottle if you look, get someone to turn the steering wheel while you watch the belt and watch the fluid level.
If air comes out through the oil it needs cbleed, if you see the belt jumping then you need a new alt belt/to tension it right.
New fluid may sort it but then again may not so check the other things forst. |
