Was browsing for car insurance when I came across this:
http://www.diamond.co.uk/survey/gender_survey.phtml

Quote:
The European Commission has proposed a directive to introduce a single pricing policy for car insurance, regardless of gender. If the Commission's proposals are adopted, insurers will have to charge the same rates for men and women. Young women could see a 20-30% increase in their premiums, while young men could pay 10-20% less.

Traditionally women have benefited from cheaper premiums than men, as they cost insurers less in claims costs. As women are generally more cautious drivers than men, when they are involved in accidents the claims costs tend to be lower as the accidents are less serious.

If this went through, us blokes could finally be treated on equal terms as women with insurance companies Smile
