The auction is just a formality! |

question to seller wrote: |
Hi there, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Neal, and I represent the website and car club at www.retro-renault.com, home of the ‘General Lee’ R19 ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4590117452 ). Unfortunately, the Lee has come to the end of its realistic lifespan. This means we are interested in acquiring your fine vehicle for use in a long distance road trip event such as staples2naples or home2rome, which you may or may not be aware of.
In your opinion, do you think the car has any major structural or mechanical problems other than the ones directly mentioned in the auction? Fixing the others you specify is not a problem for us by any means, but major rust which threatens to cause the car to fold in two may very well be.
Thankyou for your time and your honesty
Neal |

A. As far as i know there are no major rust issues. the only other thing that seems odd: when i replaced the front left wheel there was grease sprayed on the inside indicating something which i can't quite remember, maybe the steering rack? remind me and i'll ask my mate for a more technical answer. basically it judders a bit when you turn hard, for example in a 3 point turn. apart from that and the other billion things mentioned, no problems. |

I still want to do either of those road trip events, anyone else up for it? Wouldn’t want any more than 4 to a car though |

Whats the date of the staples to naples?
We need another thread for this - and some positive commitments.
Provided I'm not still at Uni, I'd be up for it - and I'm sure Liam would too.
I think it should be a team effort regardless of the number of cars going - travel in convoy. Think we should maybe take two cars and no more then 5 members which means if one car goes bang we're still covered.
Unless we take 2 Savanas, or an Espace or something! |
