Hallo,
my wife owns a very well kept R19 Cabriolet with only 60'000 km from 1993 and since we have the car, we have problems with the ABS-Indication-Lamp on the dashboard. The Renault-Garage used to fix it during warranty time with contact spray and moving the contacts on the system from time to time, then the light went off after ignition. Now the lamp is on again and the computer showed a malfunction of ABS and the according diode. After clearing the error computer, no fault showed off again after a little roundtrip but the lamp is still on and we do not know if the ABS would work; we suppose not after testbreaking. Nothing helped and the garage tells us now, that we should change the print with the diode on and the cables with is very expensive. We know that many other owners had the same problems already and are looking for some facts to deal directly with Renault Suisse S.A. to get some refund. Usually the do not care for cars older than 10 years but it's quite new and perfect and the problem is also 10 years old. So to say it was never fixed properly during warranty time, which we even prolonged! Thanks for any help to our problem.

Check the relays and the board for water ingress, due to its position water gets dripped on it when the coolants topped up.

I assume thats why renault sprayed contact cleaner on it.

If it all looks well at the ABS computer then have a look at the wiring to the wheel sensors. If its broken or the insulation is split replace the section, solderign in new wire will do.

Check the wheel sensors. The reluctor rings on the hubs can corrode and swell up and even split causing the ABS to not work. Check the air gap between the rings and the sensors, it shouldn't have changed but it if has then its rust thats caused it.

A blast with a high pressure hose at the rings and sensor face can clean them up and make them work properly again.

Check the sensors resistance, they should be quite even, if 1 is very different from the other 3 then get another sensor.
