can you get me bits cheap then Pierre?

Don't suppoose any of you are really sad and can tell me how to get Linux off a pc, I have a windows 98 boot disk and I can't get linux off to get the thing going. Yes this is a george arse up.

I should be fixing cars but thats effort.

I did however put a tent up in the bedroom today after I got bored with that pc. Aired it for a bit then hoovered the old grass out of it then packed it away properly, now I HAVE to go camping somewhere.

I am also bored, very bored and its raining outside.

Chris if you set the pc to boot from the floppy drive (in the BIOS), and have the boot disk in when you turn the pc on, it should use that to start up, regardless of whats on the hard disk.

you'd think that Neal but sadly its not true, best I can do is get the floppy loaded then tell it to boot without cd back up then it just goes to A:\> so I changed it to C to try and format the thing using FDISK to partition it which I eventually managed but can't get it to format.

And no matter what I typoe when I just try to run the thing all I get is A:\> then type stuff its says abort/retry/fail? or invalid system command etc.

In FDISK did you delete the existing partition? Then restart and create a new one using FDISK? You need to do that, then you could be able to use the FORMAT C:\ command from the A:\ drive

ive just finished my degree in aerospace engineering (should have done automotive really), and ill be the first the suggest that having a degree doesnt mean you know jack shit in real terms about the subject.

People I know have just got first class honours and for example dont know what a bearing is (i shit you not). Oh, the examples i could give...

But i digress.

Before i went to uni i was a machinist doing manual and CNC milling and turning.

During my course I have had a job in a cinema where i now work pretty much full time as shift manager/projectionist until i get a proper job.
