after buying my r19 from a scrap yard which had minimal damage i kept it outside on someones farm, then after about 2 monthes i went to get it and bring it back to were i live but when i got back i noticed a fresh leak of oil comeing from the head so
i got hold of a new gasket set but i dont now if i should get the head skimmed or not it seems ok but how can i tell

with the head off clean the face up then get a steel rule and lay it against it, it should be flat so you shouldn't see light under the edge of the rule.
Generally they don't need skimmed, a good clean up of the head and block face and a decent gasket will sort it out. |
