Sadly not a Ford Cortina but a Cortina of the bike variety.
A few years ago I used to be into mountain biking and had a tidy little bike. They're easy to maintain, keep you fit and are hours of fun. When I got my car though I lost interest and sold my bike:
Old Bike
But today a mate of mine gave me an old frame of his. It's a Cortina and they're hand made in America somewhere by one family who founded the compnay. The frame is in no way 'mint'though, it has 2 dents on the top tube and the head tube and rear disc mounts were welded up/back on
It is however a very light and strong frame and to get it for free is great.
Anyway, plans are to make a budget but nice dirt bike. Going to strip off the stickers and rub her down, then get it resprayed in the blackes black i can find, then slowly over a few months add the headset, cranks, suspension, rear brake, wheels etc.
It will look fairly similar to my old one with the same wheels and drivetrain, but will hopefuly be lighter and stronger. |

Oh yes mate. Used to love it. Had 3 bikes. First got run over, so got an Identiti DrJekyll, which got stolen, so got another Identiti DrJekyll (the on above)
Even though I ride hardtail, downhilling was my forte. Can't beat a good sesh in the woods (oh er ) |
