Just a couple of short questions, hopefully with not so short answers
1. F7P engine from Clio or R19 - any differences?
2. F7P engine from Clio/R19 - do 1.7 engine gearboxes fit?
3. Gearboxes Clio 16V/%19 16V - differences?
4. F7P inlet manifold - can anyone explain how does it work, I've heard that it's not a regular manifold but the one with variable inlet?
5. The last one - rebuilding - uprating the engine. What are the "cheapest" mods when rebuilding the F7P engine? I suppose fitting a bigger valves, maybe porting and better exhaust. How much bigger valves and from what car?
And bonus question - what to look after when buying F7P engine? Compression values, noises (hydro lifts and co.) common failures etc... |

1. yes, inlet manifold, wiring loom and TB.
2. yes
3. yes, clio one is shorter.
4. You heard wrong, its a normal one.
5. Valves from amegane are the biggest this family of engines got, the megane valves are 33mm the williams are 32 odds. You can fit bigger like 34's from an mi16.
make sure it turns over, many are tight and knackered. |
