Right ive been chasing this poxy water leak for as long as i can remember.
I fill it up to the mark, and within a couple of days it disappears so that header tank is empty. Once it gets to a certain level it doesnt go any lower (leading me to believe that any leak is at about the height of the thermostat housing), as i can leave it for ages and it will still only take the same smallish amount of water to bring it back up to the level.
the leak is not:
Head gasket
hoses
radiator
head core plugs
water pump
anyone got any bright ideas because im going to take a hammer to the fucking thing soon. |

yes you have an air lock.
I have the same prob. Min drops to just over the min mark, if I fill it right up then bleed it as best I can then run it and so on it will drop down to the min mark and some will dribble out the matrix but not much.
The 16V cooling system is one of the worst on the planet, it really needs vacuum pumped to fill it properly.
I will one day sort out a better way for the cooling hoses to be used but today is pot that day.
The problem is the metal pipes that run along to the front of the engine ontop of the bellhousing, there is a 90 degree bend and that bend is at the highest point and no it doesn't bleed unless you park the car arse end up on a 1 in 5 hill. |

right thanks Chris... ill put the hammer on hold for now and try and find a good hill where i can park up and do my coolant.
My coolant doesnt just go down to the min mark though... it leaves the header bottle completely empty... time and time again. |
