There are 5 houses, each is a different colour
In each house lives a person of a different nationality.
These 5 owners all drink a certain beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigar and keep a certain pet.
No owner has the same pet, smokes the same brand of cigar or drinks the same drink as another owner.
1: The Briton lives in a red house.
2: The Swede keeps dogs as pets
3: The Dane drinks tea
4: The green house is on the left of the white house (they are also next door to each other)
5: The green house owner drinks coffee
6: The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds
7: The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill
8: The man living in the house right in the center drinks milk
9: The Norwegian lives in the first house
10: The man who smokes Blend lives next to the one who keeps cats
11: The man who keeps horses lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill
12: The owner who smokes Blue Master drinks beer
13: The German smokes Prince
14: The Norwegian lives next to the blue house
15: The man who smokes Blend has a neighbor who drinks water.
The question is: WHO KEEPS FISH? |

ye gads, how do i explain that in text?
The answer is The German
how u work it out . .
Let's start with the obvious:
The Norwegian lives in the first house.
The man living in the house right in the center drinks milk.
From that you work out that the second house is blue.
The Norwegian lives next to the blue house and the only house he lives next to is the second one, hence it has to be blue.
right the first house can be either green, red, white or yellow (blue is already assigned to the second house).
The first house can't be green, since:
The green house is on the left of the white house (next to it).
and we know already that the first house is left of the blue one, not white.
The first house can't be red either, since the Brit lives in a red house.
and we know already that Norwegian lives in the first house, not Brit.
The first house can't be white as well, since the green house is on the left of the white house (next to it).
but there are no houses at all on the left of the first house.
Hence the only color left for the first house is yellow.
Once the color of the first house is determined, it is possible to fill the cigar cell for that house.
The third house can be either green, red or white (yellow and blue are already assigned to the first and the second house)
The third house can't be green, since:
The green house owner drinks coffee.
and we know already that the owner of the third house drinks milk, not coffee.
The third house can't be white either, since the green house is on the left of the white house (next to it).
and we know already that the blue is left of the third house, not the green one.
Hence, the only color, which is left for the third house, is red.
Once the color of the third house is defined, the nationality of its owner becomes obvious:
The Brit lives in a red house.
The remaining two colors are easy to assign:
the green house is on the left of the white house (next to it).
Only two adjacent houses and two colors are left and thus, the fourth house is green and the second house is white.
now the color of the fourth house is determined, the beverage choice of its owner becomes obvious:
The green house owner drinks coffee.
The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
From the above we can determine in which house horses are kept. We know that:
The man who keeps horses lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
Hence, horses can be kept only in the second house, since it's the only one, which is next to the house of the Dunhill smoker.
right now match up the rest of the nationalities to the houses
The second house can be owned only by Dane or German. Swede can't own the second house, since:
The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
and we know already that the owner of the second house keeps horse.
The fourth house can be owned only by German or by Swede. Dane can't own the fourth house, since:
The Dane drinks tea.
and we know already that the owner of the fourth house drinks coffee.
There are no restrictions on the owner of the fifth house, so he can be either Dane, German or Swede.
now that still leaves us with the houses not correct for natinality so we need to go a little further
Considering that:
The German smokes Prince.
The Dane drinks tea. . .
LOL this is hard, do you really wish me to continue, its so hard trying to explain it with text only lol
u need to really make some grids up so u can slot all the various known quantitys into place
take my word for it
