How long can you trust them to keep going once they've started whining? I could really do with having one changed on the Clio but my mechanic can't do it until the weekend, which is when I need it as it's going on Nick Hill's dyno..... |

I was driving around for months on mine... I had a a front bearing on the way out... still drove up to scotland and back, and then continued to drive around normally for a few months after until at least one of the rears started to go as well. In the end it was just the loud incessant droning noise that became too much to bear and I had to change them.
not suggesting you do the same, but it's not a critical threat to life and limb. It's definitely not going to flip the car on its roof () |

LOL! I suppose I asked for that one but I suppose to the uneducated mind it's a feasible possibility.
Right looks like I shall be okay then. Just being paranoid as usual! |

i've had the same experience as Neal on one side, but the other went badly all of a sudden effected handling braking steering to the point i wouldn't dare drive it. it depends on many variables, should see you through to the weekend though |

just leave it, 3 bolts is fine, it'll pass an mot like that as they can't pull the centre caps off anyway.
You need to get a ticket on it though. |

I done 6k on mine drowning like a biatch, when I did replace it (Well I swapped the hubs) my mate who done is said he's never heard one as bad as that.
There was no play in the wheel at all though but it was definatly the bearing, even spinning the hub by hand when it was off the car you could hear it grating.
BTW; doing 6k on a knackard bearing was a stupid thing to do, and dont really advise it even though it will probably last it. I done it because I do these sort of things |
