Ive searched for the answer to these questions, but all the posts seem to be "bit" answers... would apreciate it if someone would take the time to give me a full answer i can work from
What does the front engine mount look like? (rough drawings on paint acceptable!!) Two local factors have shown me diagrams but i cant see it to see if its right. Also im guessing its the front one close to the power steering pump and i seem to get a hell of a lot of movement from that side when i rock the engine back and for, the rear one was replaced around 2 months ago and the gearbox mount was described to me by the mechanic who did the rear one as "very recent" also theres virtually no movement from that side, all seems solid.
Question two is how exactly do i fit it? Dont fancy draining my rad as i seem to do that every week! front wheel off? do i jack something? how many bolts? where are they? etc etc...
help is much appreciated! |

the one on the left is the frt engine mount...the one on the right is the gearbox one.
there is a nut on the end of that stud which protrudes thru the subframe..access from under neath...then you can jack up the engine to take the weight off the mount, also to lift it out the hole....to allow you to undo the other 2 nuts that hold it to the engine....fiddly arse job in situ (with the ps etc in the way....) |

Day one, failed miserably, bottom nut off car jacked up, but need to remove the strut brace to get it up high enough. Biggest prob is i cant even feel the nuts let alone get a spanner on them! Its very cold, so ive given up...
Day two will be going for gold, or booking it in for someone else to get their hands dirty..... |

Support the engine on a jack under the sump. You can remove the alternator and power steering pump etc. gubbins in about 10 minutes. Then you can remove the mount and the metal bracket together. |

i managed it without removing anything...but i did need to cut a spanner in half to fit it in a certain position.
Don't think i had to remove the strut brace tho...doesn't have to go that high. |

Doing the inlet manifold in situ was tricky but possible, i cant see how this is possible with everything in place, you removing the drivers wheel and all liners or something? like i said i cant even feel one of the nuts let alone see it! |
