Bought this grinder to replace a Makita that only lasted a few years.
Makita is supposed to be good, but we will never buy one again:
The screws worked loose on the head and the grease started weeping out.
Completely unrelated to that, there is also a bearing gone too.
The locking mechanism to change the disk has broken (which left bits of steel bouncing around the cogs for a while.
The tool to unscrew the spindle broke ages ago.
I was also told that armature was gone too, I'm not sure about that though.
Froogle found that grinder. It was £84 + vat in a local shop and as you can see it's £67 + vat delivered on that site.
It has a three year RTB warranty, which I hope will never be used.
The alternative was to buy a cheap Chinese one from Argos @ £20 + Vat plus extended cover for three years at £5 inc Vat. It does make sense, and I was temped, but we can't have tools breaking down. |
