the car has only done 39 thou and when i rebuilt the head i made sure that there was no worn cams

the reason i rebuilt the head in the first place was because the head gasket had blown

i'v been out doing the car this morning and i double checked that all the clearances are ok there seems to be a small grinding noise coming from the left drive shaft area could be CV goint but im not sure

i also wont to put on a universal max power induction kit but the standard air box is so crap it doesn't let you do anything, any suggestions

thanks for your help

39K doesn't mean the cams not worn. Low mileage cars are usually the worst engine wise than mega milers. Lost count of how many its only done 10k miles in 5 years cams and followers I have changed.

My noise appeared at around 170k miles, only with carefull measurement did I discover it was slightly worn.

Stock air box is quite good really.

Anyway, the max power universal IK, how much is it? The ripspeed one I have (look in my chamade prog report to see the thing) cost 25 quid from Halfords.

Anyway is it a ph2 or ph1?

its a phase 2 and the max power filter looks just like a k&n.

i know what you mean about high milage, my other car has done 91k
and is still going strong but it does have one prob it seems to ratle like hell when you start it and after a few seconds its nice and smooth

for some reason i prefer my old phase 1 compard to the phase 2 it just seems to be rock solid

ph2's seem to ride higher then the ph1's so they feel more boat like.

Anyway easiest thing to do is remove the filter in the housing leave the housing on the engine, jam the hot air feed shut and stick the induction cvone on the end of the hose to the front.

i was going to do that but there is a flap that restricts the air flow inside

thus the jam the hot air feed shut.

You can either jam it shut or remove the thermo elbow bit altogether and use an adaptor pipe, B&Q shoudl have something that should do the job.
