because rear exit is far more efficient than a side exit and safety regs demand it. |

how is it more efficient if waste gases are expelled slower on a longer pipe? |

because rear exit tailpipe get the an area of low pressure at the tip which pulls the gas out, that mass of the gasses which is considerable is not then gettign in the way of the cars slipstream thus makes it faster.
Motorbikes are very sensitive to this actually. |

the gases would join the slipstream at the side of the car and be pulled out surely? and on a 4stroke engine the more air and fuel burnt ov makes the crank turn quicker then needing a shorter route to exit to repeat the process
pros and cons either way
sounds so nice though you would have to sit in the passenger side with the window down turbo spoiling in front loud exhasut note at the side cant be beaten |

exacrtly, don;t talk if you don;t know what tyour talkign about, and no a side exit will not blend into the slipstream, its actually a restriction.
The fact its used on some cars is the power gain outweighs the problems caused by it, but for a normal car it kills power the faster you go and does economy no favours. |

it gota be right as a four stroke doesnt work of back pressure like a 2stroke there for doesnt need to be any partiular lenght or shape |

My next mod i'm going to turn the downpipe 180degrees and make a short pipe to exit forwards through the front bumper. That'll be good wont it? |

He's right, i just pulled the manifold off the seat and replaced it with four 3" pipes to get those pesky gasses out asap
The result? 194bhp at the wheels |
