hello, i got directed to this site by neal and mat(thanks),i was asking on ebay about lowering rear end on my 19,if any body can give info,pics,or do the work ,or refer me to a decent place to get it done it would be good,motors a j plate phase 1 chamade in white,few mods,overall nice car 1 rear arch needs spraying will take pics tomorrow

First thing you need to do is take the plastic caps of the ends of the rear beam and have a look in there. If it's clean, you're set. If it's rusty, you might have a pig of a job on your hands getting the bars out.

I'm down the M1 in St. Albans (J9 iirc), I'll do it for you if you get really stuck.

i wouldnt have a clue how to do it,i can get to st albans next weekend,or if its easier i can arrange to get the car in the air at a garage in mk either way i will sort you for doing it,do you have club meets as its good to put faces to names and meet likeminded souls,cheers

i cant do next weekend or easter weekend... weekend after that i can do... but still, have a look under the caps to see what we're dealing with first

Here's a pic of a clio, 19 is the same.

That's just in front of the rear wheel, it has a plastic cap over it each side, pull them off and have a look. If it's rusty as fook, there's no point you even coming down here,we won't be able to shift the bars.

anyway to give you a brief overview, what needs doing is the bars pulled out using a piece of M10 threaded rod/bolt, a nut and a suitable sized socket. Then you rotate the suspension arms to the desired position and push the bars back in.

When they are siezed they are way beyond WD40's capabilities!

cant click on the link for the photo,ive had a look on the car and can see the end caps you mean,if i can get home early enough i will see about the rust situation,either way it would be good to meet a few of the bods on this site,the french car show looks good,do any of you meet up at mk cruise,its usually pretty good even better now the light evenings are here,anyhow petrolheads,bless you one and all
