Call me an old git but I'm amazed that your parent's are letting you drive such a powerful car so young. I've seen to many inexperienced young drivers lose their lives on a single road near here to allow my Son to drive anything above a 1.2 when he's old enough, until he has gained some real driving experience.

yea, fair dooes, i completly understand and respect your point. my dad knows my capabilities, i know, i have no road experience etc, but, my parentrs aswel as teaching me the basics, my dad is teaching me all the class 1 police stratagy driving, and my mum is teaching me all the iam stuff, im not trying to be big headed and say i can handle the car, as i know if something goes wrong, i wont be able to. but i dont go racing round country lanes in unsuitable conditions etc. i am a careful driver.

Bit off topic, told Chris this before. When i was 17 and had passed my test it was snowing heavily so went to the school car park at night and did a lot of doughnuts and handbrake turns etc.
Went back to school a few days later (when the school reopened) and was hauled into the janitors office by the rector and found two janitors sitting there watching me spin around on CCTV. Detention for two weeks.

moral of the story is make sure nobody catches you. On a serious note though if you drive carefully on the roads and leave all the fannying about to private areas then you can still learn how to control the car without learning from mistakes on the roads.

thing is some of us have natural ability, I was ragging a 450bhp cossie RS500 about when I was 15 on my private test track.

I never thought anything of it.

So you can't say well your not getting this size of engine, I could go out, but a 1.4 fit a shorter stroke crank to make it a 1.1 or 1.2 (nice and oversquare then), slap a turbo on it and make 200bhp.

However if the person is clearly a retard that cannot drive then yes limit them.

Speaking from personal experience. I was also taught the police driving strategy, IAM and ADI (my dad was a driving instructor) and I only know now what I've gained from 10 years + experience of driving daily (city - I haven't always lived up here - and scottish winters)! I am pleased that you are a responsible driver but always remember, it's not only your own life on the line if you do have an accident. I can think of 3 familys that I know who have lost children in accidents on the same spot on the same road where their kids were passengers not driving.

If you are going to be "fannying about" somewhere private, make sure you have someone with you but not in the car, just in case Wink

Strangely, at least 2 of the accidents involved Clio's.
