Back on the topic of the Clio 16v I have been thinking of getting. the owner says that when you jump start it it just cuts out once the jump leads are removed. Any idea why this would be?
I'm guessing it will just be a dud battery or maybe alternator??? TBH I had thought (with my little knowledge) that the car would run fine once started even with a crap battery.
I pressume I would be OK to put the battery from my Clio 1.4 in and try it with that?
Thanks. |

Thanks, would the battery light being on mean the alternator was knackered if it was my 1.4 battery in there? |

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for the light and check the fuse if necessary. |

Couple more things - will that light show up when the car is idling when I put my battery in if the alternator is the problem, or only once it's been driven for a while?
I don't want to have the thing cutting out when I go out for a test drive in it.
The fuse you talk about - is it just in the fuse box in the engine compatment next to where the windsreen washer goes (assuming the fuse box is in the same place as my 1.4)
Thanks. |

if its on when idlign the alt is duff, the battery should last a good 40 miles though.
erm might be or it may be in the car, they just stuck them in random places tbh |

immobiliser cutting in when jump leads are removed means voltage drop in the circuit |
