hello everyone its been a long time since i walked down this road!!! i have been playing with my VW beetles and really havernt needed any help with my chamade so ive had no need to post, just wanna say hi to everyone i used to talk to, hi!

anyway back to the topic, my girlfried and i have just bought a N reg clio RT with 4months TAX and MOT in dec, 98K on the clock, but with a dodgey head gasket for 475pounds, which i dont think is bad,
anyway it drives but not very well,
So after a compression test and removal of the head (its a energy engine) ive discoverd that the main waterway gallery coming straight of the thermostat (right by cyinder no.1) is where the crack in the head geasket is, so thats simple enough to fix right? just stick on the new H/g and tighern the bolts down right? also what it the correct way to tighten
the bolts down??

what torque/way to do it etc?
should i re-use the head bolts??

also i mentioned that i did a compersion test i found that clyinder no.4 was lower that the middle two (as clyinder no1 was fooked due to H/G)
on closer inspection its a cracked exsaust valve, so what am i gonna do now??

anyone got a spare exsaust vlave for a 1.4 engry engine i can have??
how do i put a new valve in???

i will be doing a full service on the engine while its in bit's ie all new filters and a new cam belt! which ive never done before

any advice on set up with a new cambelt?
what to do what no to do??

also i would likc to re set the rocker thingermebobs

any advice on re seting them??

also while the head is off im trying to port and polish to the best of my standers with a drill file, sanding wheels and wire brush drill spinny things, its going well be i wanna suck as mush power of of this engine as possible as i will be putting 19 16v girgling brakes on the front, decat, K&N and a back box, so what else while im fiddleing would be good to play with???
any help appriciated
cheers
alex.

buy a haynes cheap skate.

Look in your 19 haynes same engine.

Yes just swap the gasket. Make sure the heads not bent.

Yes re-use the headbolts.

They are angle tightened, again in the haynes.

If there any specific probs ask then, not a whole how 2 before you even look at it.

Oh yeah buy a new exhaust valve then lap it in.
