I'm thinking about buying a Laguna but not sure which one to go for. Any ideas on what the mpg will be on a 1.8 or 2ltr? Are they as comfy as they look? My main reason for looking at Laguna's is that I need something comfy that's not going to play havoc with my dodgy hip. The fact that it's a bit more powerful won't hurt either Wink

Cheers,

better than a mondeo like you were asking about on ebay!

Yes they are comfy, lots of side and leg room.

the 24V V6 is the sporty one, the 2 litres etc are not fast by any means.

do not go smaller than the 2 litre, neo may come on and say his 1.6 16V one is fecking marvelous its not.

2l is the smallest you should go, rt is the lowest spec you should go.

What you want is a 2l rt/rxe around a P plate. Under 500 and under 3 at auction easily and perfectly usuable.

MPG is around 30 combined, about 35/40mph on a run.
Parst used to be horrifically expensive buthave come down a lot lately.

My offer still stands for you to come down to go toth e auctions with me btw.

Cheers Chris, the one I'm looking at locally is a 2l RT, window price is 701. Just been MOT'd. 101k on the clock.

I've defenately decided against a Mondeo! If I do manage to get another car it will more than likely be a Laguna.

30mpg's not bad, not getting much more than that out of the 1.4 Rover!

Thanks for the offer of the Auctions, not really up to travelling right now.

Speak to you soon.

Don't get one of the last ph2, old shape 1.9 DCI, there rare, and was a test bed for the newer car. Getting service part's for it can be hard, because you allway end up getting DTI bit's

Or you could look at it like your getting the newer more refined DCI engine in a cheaper car.

Why not a 1.8 Mr H? Remember I'm not really looking for something sporty, still need it to be reasonably economical, comfort and less pain are the main objectives Wink The one I was looking at has been dismissed, it needs strut mounts, cambelt and there was nothing in the expansion tank Shocked I'd like to get an RXE if I can. There seem to be few 2l up here, mostly 1.8.

2l is the min I would go, the 1.8 uses more juice and the 2l is min safe engine size I would go for.

i hate nothing more than driving a car with no power, might as well say hit me please mr lorry.
the 1.8 is ok in the clio or 19 but the laguna is way to heavy for it, you need to thrash it every where to even keep up with traffic.

No laguna is sport, the V6 is at best swift, its not fast or sporty, wrong car if you want anything sporty.

strut tops most will need done, same with the cambelt, the header tanks are notorious for splitting.

They are all jobs I had to do on my sisters, also on its 2nd set of drop links in 2 years.

Cheers Chris, I'll keep looking at 2l then. The RT Sport has been ruled out unfortunately coz the seats are the wrong shape Rolling Eyes

Hello again Mr H. Knowing that this one locally needs these things done, what would you say would be a fair price? They've dropped the window price to £600.

2ltr RT, N Reg. Will need, strut tops, cambelt and had no coolant in header tank, not sure why, looks like the radiator has been replaced at some point.

erm try about 3/400 and at that with tax and test.

My sister paid 800 like a fool for her P plate 2l rt about 2 years ago with 6 montsh test and 4 months tax on it.

i wouldn't have paid more than 7 for it at a push, but she threw the money at him, stupid women.

Get an s plate for about 6 easy private, get a W plate and above for 6 a auction.

Get the new shape lagunas at auction for around a grand

Just out of curiosity when did they stop putting infra-red central locking in Lagunas?
