Got an early Christmas present last night when the illumination for the heater control panel made a welcome return after a 3 year hiatus....
Although I get the feeling it's going to bugger off again at the next pot-hole.... |

Anyone know what kind of bulbs are in the heater panel? Is there only one or a couple of them in there? My heater panel has gone black recently, and no amount of fiddling will make it light up again |

OK guys - I've got the heater control block unscrewed from the centre console surround, but I can't figure out where the bulb is! Do I need to separate the black front section from the white back section in order to get to the bulb? I tried to do this by unclipping the front fascia at the ends, but something seems to be holding the fascia/front part firmly onto the back bit in the middle of the heater controls - is it just glued at the factory or summink? Also, is there any way to disconnect the tension wires from the control panel (the ones for the knobs that do the heat level and the air direction)? I only ask cause its a bitch to work on with them attached, cause I can't seem to get the control panel out from behind the centre console due to the tension in them!
Cheers

Never mind - by a cunning use of brute force and persistence I got the bugger out from behind the facia
On a side note, does anyone have a clue as to why there are spaces for two bulbs, but only one bulb holder and bulb? Seemed a bit wierd to me, although I guess one bulb gives you enough light anyway. I think I should really replace all the centre console bulbs with LED's - especially the damned switches! They seem to blow about once every 6 months and then I end up having to buy another set of switches for £3 off ebay |
