why don't you get it?
A gearbox swap isn't hard, just take your time fixing it and you will have a 16V. |

i would love to chris but just dont feel confident enough to mess with it and dont want to cause any diy incidents really plus i am working a bit hard these days . i think i will go and have a look at it on sunday (just for the leather seats if he is willing to sell or swap them with my cloths) . thought thats a good price for a valver even with fecked gearbox though |

and what can make the gearbox get fecked ? is it lack of periodical maintanence or is it about the way the car has been driven ? cause the car happens to be in 100k miles . |

for a knackered valver, ph2 on a k/l plate with no tax then i dunno, under 200 really.
as for why the box is making noise, they all leak oil, ifs prob never been topped up in its life, ran low on oil thus the problems. Or an original defect etc |

that was the asking price anyway ,he might let it go cheaper after a good convincing negotiation. i would like the leather seats though ,are they easy to swap ,i think there are 4 torx screws holding each front seat ,right? |

I'd say £250 is ok assuming that the leather is in great nic, good tyres etc and long MOT. I let Huw take my valver with knackered clutch for that, tho it had good tyres, S/S exhaust, 11 months MOT, new discs/pads, new clutch pedal, indicator stalk yadda yadda.
As for leather interior, I picked up an immaculate PH2 exec set (small rear headrests) for £80 and went on to sell it for £260 and the guy drove a 400 mile round trip to collect!
I've been offered a PH2 white valver with knackered rear engine mount and rattly head when hot and 6 months test with shoddy leather for £100. Tempted. |

You would have done had I not changed it, the old one didn't give you full beam on main beam |
