Hi there.
I own a R19 1.4 energy, and want to be able to "mod" my engine a bit, so that i get more accelaration in the mid range. (or overall, i'm not fussy)
E6J engine. Carb fed etc etc. (Completly standard)
Cheers

Straight through midsection helps a fair bit...
Good service and maybe some headwork? |

Ahh a fine automobile you have there.
The carbed version is the best version of this engine as well.
1st thing to do, clean the carb, get a tin of carb cleaner and a toothbrush and clean the carb until its spotless.
Clean the breathers out as well, they can get quite clogged.
Take the coil off the ignition module (2 T-20 screws) and clean up any corrosion on the spring clips.
Geta new rotor arm and sdizzy cap on it.
If the leads are knackered then new ones are the way to go. I have Magnecor KV85's on mine not cheap but 10 year warrenty. And they are the best of the best.
Spark plugs, use NGK plugs. Bocsch plugs etc are fit for the bin only.
You can drill the airbox to get a bit more induction noise and a wee tad more go. If you drill it at the top in the centre thats the way.
if you are willign to take the head off then these respond very well to headwork, I done the head on Georges clio and it was quick. Would keep up and out accelerate from a standstill my old 2litre 16V saab 9000, woudl only start to struggle at 120mph.
The exhaust can be swapped for the 2 silencer system instead of the 3 silencer set up, renault is the best place to go and reasonably priced as well. |
