Well its been an interesting day today all going well untill a simple deed turned into a nightmare.
Was minding my own business driving through town, went to change gear and the clutch pedal went straight to the floor and the car lunged to a halt. I knew what had happened straight away, cable had snapped. Got the car pushed round into a car park and went to examine the damage, the cable had snapped right at the pedal. Shit happens I thought, common problem and not that hard to fix.

Went and sourced my cousin and his tow-rope to get me home, only 4 mile drive so whats the worst that could happen. Was all going nice and smooth untill we got to a fairly nasty junction. Cousin pulled away *BANG* and off he went with my front bumper trailing along behind him. Got out and on closer inspection the towing loop had ripped clean off where its bolted/welded to and took the bumper with it.

Finally got home 2 hours after I set off, had to be towed with the rope attached to the front cross member and hope it didnt rip the front of the car off.
Bumper in the boot:

Sorry sight

Ouch!!! that sucks mate. Whenever one of my cars has needed towing i always make sure i am always the 'tower'. This is simply because inevitably the person being towed is incapable of keeping the rope taught so i ALWAYS make sure to employ the the softly softly approach when pulling away.
Cant say ive ever heard of the towing eye actually coming off though! Thats a new one on me. Hard luck mate. |

Ouch, thats not good matey!
I use a metal towing bar and not a rope, no problem with the rope going slack then |

Hopefully should be driveable again 2morro all being well (GSF having a clutch cable in stock). Need to get a proper look at the bumper in the morning, 1 mount is still on the car and the other is on the bumper. |

Can you guess what I was doing when the cable snapped? Taking my kitten to get some anti-biotics! |

Ha ha! Back and running again, got hold of a new cable for £17 after abit of ringing around. Bit of a pain getting the old one out but refitting fairly simple. Bumper is now back on the best I can get it, both side mounts shagged and one of the front ones is not even on the car and doesnt look like it ever has been. Grill is broken, passenger corner got ripped out and snapped the plastic mount off. Passenger headlight mounting also got tore off and is now loose as are the break cooling ducts which got tore off the bumper. |

Well luck just keeps on running low. Just been down to the garage to see if I can pick my car up from having belt change and get told that they sent the wrong bits and wont be done till tomorrow. Its been there since 8 o'clock and they havnt even bothered to ring me. How hard is it to order the right parts theres only 1 16v reno 19! |
