Well, being a 19 year old twat I managed to write off a near mint 71k r19 ph2 exec by understeering into a bumpy common and twisting the chassis (pictures to follow). But, being dumb young and full of cum I'm not going to give up so easily and today bought my second valver, a 1993 clio 16v (pictures and progress to follow!). I'm planning on salvaging my 71k engine and gearbox (the rad has been pushed back a bit but otherwise seems spot on, running sweetly) and drop it in the 131,000 clio.
This is the clio; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=015&item=250014647202&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
I paid £400 (originally 500) but as I was driving off the rear gearbox mount collapsed leaving me unable to select a gear! What followed was an elephant.co.uk sponsored recovery van (thank fuck they slyed the 'extras' package on -bet they regret it now, £500 worth of recovery )
As detailed on ebay, the clutch ratchet needs doing (and is what caused the mount breakage) and obviously a new rear mount too..
(how do i upload images to the forum?) |

Jobs for the clio;
-New rear gearbox mount
(or use the one off the 19.. is that possible?)[/align:cb45d09bfa]
-Replace clutch pedal assembly to fix ratchet problem
(Can I use the assembly from the 19?)[/align:cb45d09bfa]
-Replace megane 16's [with fuked tyres] with standard wheels (and later 17's from the r19)
-Get working heater/fan dash controls from scrapper
(are they the same on valvers as on normal clios?)[/align:cb45d09bfa]
-Fix rev counter (hopefully will be a sticking dial or loose conn.)
-Clean off loose paint and surface rust and respray
-[Eventually, or if gearbox is fucked] Put r19 engine and gearbox in clio
-Get non-broken front and rear black bumpers from scrapper
(Are 16v bumpers the same as non 16v bumpers?)[/align:cb45d09bfa]
-Replace stupid rudeboy chav round silver gear knob with original gearknob from fuked 19
Wow. Am knackered just listing it
If anyone can help me with find the parts, especially the bumpers and heater controls, it would be much appreciated! Ta |

mounts are all different
yes but the pedals wrong and it will be high
what a totally pointless thing to do
yes
the infamous shitty clioness
same as a above, it will need welded by the ebay pics, don't be surprised if most of the sill is gone as well
not advisable unless it has the clio casing which only some have
no
Is the heater controls not the same as the ph2 19's? black and white? |

Not so sure about that, the rust around the arches only seems like surface rust from a quick inspection, and it got through its last mot with no advisory notes (where as the r19 before had about 9).
But i guess its hard to tell without cleaning them out properly

Which bit were u referring to here?
Were you talking about putting 17's on the clio? The reason I want to do that, but not straight away, I 'cause about 2 weeks before the crash I spent £270 on 4 brand new tyres inc.fitting and 3 of which are alright and 1 of which I'll need to get replaced and the alloy checked.
The tyres on the standard 19 and clio 15's are ok, well better than the 2 front slicks on his megane 16's.
Hmm shame about clutch pedal and rear gearbox mount, can anyone get me part numbers and est. prices please? Ta. Looks like a trip to local renault dealer. I heard that the mounts from Eurocapparts and GSF aren't up to much. |

clios always look better than they are on the back arches, get in thee and poke about, chances are half the sills and so on will fall away.
Yeah the 17's are terrible, especially on a clio. You lose steering lock and the rides utter crap.
Sell the wheels. |

No scrubbage and could go full lock, ride was stiff but was dropped 40mm on the front on progessively wound springs (i.e. stiff as fuck) so with the low profiles it shook ur teeth.
Lowered it on the tortion bar bout 40mm too.
Gd shit really, but I get the impression that I *may* have had a diff outcome if it was standard wheels and ride height.
Just a thought, but half heartedly messing with suspension geometry is dangerous. If you have to lower it for performance, do it properly |

Update on the CLIO:
Took off the bumper and inspected the rear arches;
Left one has been repaired before -i ended up pulling out a lump of filler

[img:640:480:7338d5ec6f]http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/4140/ere1017sy0.jpg[/img:7338d5ec6f]
[img:640:480:7338d5ec6f]http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/6222/ere1018yc0.jpg[/img:7338d5ec6f]
My plan is to kurust the hell out of it as far back as i can reach, then use waxoyl with a straw between the front and rear metals to add some addition barrier, then fill it as they did previously. Its not a permanent fix but I dont think its going to be on the road for much more than a year.
The right one is just how i was hoping it would be, solid and an easy fix.

Also glad to find minimal corrosion leading onto the sills, pics to follow
Still needing these parts;
Door rubber;

-Oh and tominbristol those alloys will be up for sale after they have been checked and a new tyre has been put on them. The tyres + fitting was £290 alone when I paid for them a few weeks again.. reasonable offers will be considered (ill leave it here for a bit before sticking on the sell section give u eager project readers a chance )
Side note, I am currently in the process of making the front of the spokes white(pics to follow), give it an individual look, plus I thought white rims would look trick as fuk on a black clio, but as chris said they are shite on clios... |
