Carrying fuel..

Going to france next week. Ferry lands at about 11pm-12am local time. Last time I did this run I had problems finding a petrol station. So, this time I'm planning on taking a 20l jerry can full of petrol (which isnt much cheaper in france anyway). However somone's mentioned to me that your not allowed to carry fuel with you across the channel?

Rubbish or not?

You won't be usng petrol on the ferry so just fill up before you get on it Confused

Well that was the plan, Ill do it anyway and stick it in the spare wheel cavity under the boot floor Razz

Nah, just gonna put it in the boot I can't find anything that looks official saying you can't do it. It will be in a proper metal can, nothing dodgy like Wink

ok why dont you just put it in a normal jerry can in the boot and if anyone ever said ''NO YOU CANT BRING FUEL ON THE BOAT'' say shall i empty my freakin car aswell Rolling Eyes

I still don't get why you don;t drive to the ferry, fill up before getting on like chet said.

Surely there must be a petrol station in france within what 400 miles of the ferry terminal.

DO NOT take petrol on the ferry in a can!!! After what has gone on today anything like that would be taken very seriously if discovered, There are petrol stations in France 24h in Calais, as I have been there before, (Dont know where you are sailing into though)

lol reminds me, my friend flew to Finland once with an alarm clock in his luggage that was the shape of a bomb that he made in school as a teacher.

It was a typical stack of dynamite shape, with a clock on it and wires!! noone stopped him or found it!!! theres security for you

I honestly can't see how a 20l can of petrol is any more dangerous than a 50l tank of petrol...just looks a little more suspect, thats all Laughing

cos its easier for someone to pick it up, take it somewhere and do something with it I guess.

As everyone says, why not just fill the jerry can once you get over there as there will be a petrol station wherever you get off the boat, that way you will save any hassle at all.

Coz in a car it is in the tank, instead of a plastic container
