when you buy new front 16v shocks, do they come with the convoluted rubber boot/dust cover thingumabobbers or do you need to buy them seperately? |

STAC told me not to bother with the things on the Konis.
Just keep them clean with a blast from the hose when you wash the car. |

OK
But do Renault even sell the things without shocks.
My original ones were in bits.
Sand and crap will get up onto the top rod and fall onto the seal anyway,
so if you think about cleaning and do it on a regular basis. Is it not better than letting it sit under a plastic cover. |

I got a pair from GSF no rubber bits and they were Boge parts. |

well the gaiters are clip on fit round the top of the strut so they keep a lot out.
dialogies don't seem to have a 16V gaiter.
i will have a gander at my massive collection of dodgy struts in the back, see what the story is |

Well for me, as I got the things from a specialized shock shop that is not to far away. I can get them serviced.
They can change the seals and the oil in the things as they are not sealed units.
So as they said leave the gaiters off I'm not to worried about it.
But if you mail order sports shocks make sure you find out about servicing the things as you are not normaly paying for a throw away sealed unit. |

righty, the non 16V bits will not fit.
The part number on the gaiter itself is
7700780890
its seperate to the bump stop, it clips onto the bump stop.
someone phone for a price or summat as I'm busy |

it's 'unclipped' there yes, but the gaiter and bump stop probably come as one part? |

hmm.. curious.. on the strut i have lying in the basement, it looks like the gaitor top is the same shape as the bump stop and fits snuggly around it... in the JB picture, the gaitor has a big hole at the top... also, on mine, i can't see it being "clipped" to the stop in any way... |
