Ambers just got her cheapest quote for a 19 16V.
Bear in mind shes paying £400 for her 1.6 megane RXE.
£2300.
Yes two thousand three hundred pounds.

18k was the highest I was quoted on a 19 16V, cheapest was 12k - 3rd party.
How these 17 year olds get quotes of 1700 is beyond me!
She has a years no claims, been driving 4 years, 22 years old.
£2300 F&T is a joke.
I mean that more than double the top value of the car!
Its £400 for her 1.6 all the toys apart from air con megane, but the red car when it was a 1.4 was £800!
Megane is a grp 6, the 1.4 19 a grp 8 (clio 1.4 is a grp 4!) and the 16V 19 is grp 15 (clio 16V grp 12) |

its not glasgow its paisley it'll be insured in.
Its just the fact that the megane is so much cheaper. They just want all old cars off the roads. |

cos its a girly car, I dunno.
Why is a 1.4 19 with 60bhp 2 groups higher on insurance than a 1.6 megane with 90bhp and all the toys.
Makes no sense.
The new 2 litre vectra is a group 9 insurance! |

Hot hatches/not so hot, older cars easier to steal, Chris is right they want older cars off the road,
Also people with older cars are seen as causing more accidents apparently, coz cars arent worth much, they are not as bothered if they get hit/hit someone, causing insurance companies more outlay |

too true Mals and it's also very dependent on where you live!
only another 15 years (thereabouts) and the first 19 ph1 16Vs will qualify for classic car insurance lol |

My insurance on the chammy cost me about £390 this year, thats @ 26 with 8 years no claims (yeah ok so they only count 5 max). Still too much IMO.
Lisa paid about £500 on her '94 clio RT because shes a learner. Putting me on the policy brought it down a bit though. |

Did she try elephant.co.uk, bell.co.uk or admiral.co.uk?? They are all the same company and without fail they seem to give me the best insurance quotes. I just insured the 1.4 Clio in my own name this week for £780 TPFT and for a clio 16v in my own name would be £999TPFT, and thats including any modifications done to the cars. Bearing in mind I'm an 18 year old male (though 19 in a few weeks) with no NCD it makes ambers quote seem rediculous. When I juszt passed my test though the best I could get anywhere was £1800 TPFT in my own name for the 1.4, hence why it was under my mums name for a year. |
